About The S.R.A.

The Skateboard Racing Association - SRA - is a athlete based association comprised of an international group of elite professional skateboard racers. SRA racers are professional skateboarders who competitively race skateboards in the following disciplines: SLALOM, GIANT SLALOM, PARK SLALOM, BANKED SLALOM and DOWNHILL.

The S.R.A. will be responsible for holding and sanctioning local races, State Championship races and World and International World Title Races to be recognized as THE CORE Official Skateboard Racing Association - by the Racers for the Racers.

For the past 30 years skateboarders have created a multi-billion dollar industry sending shock waves through the very fabric of American culture. The surge of popularity and impact on today's youth market has been unparalleled to anything in team or modern sports.

Skateboarding's humble beginnings got it's start by zig zagging surf-like turns down the streets of California beach towns, which quickly lead to racing down those streets to see who was the fastest, and Boom! Skateboard Racing was born. In fact, Skateboard Racing is not only one of the sports first forms of competition; it is the purest, and most objective. Since those early days, many people and organizations have twisted and confused the very essence of what it means to race a skateboard. Some have held "races" on flat parking lots, others have set courses that actually put racers in danger by forcing them to "scrub" speed in situations where going faster is safer- and yet others have tried to change the definition of what a skateboard is by adding additional trucks, bearings, wheels and more- just shy of what could be defined as a set of roller blades!

The SRA's main goal and purpose is to protect the very essence of what a skateboard is; 1 board, 2 trucks, and 4 wheels- and to hold true to Skateboard Racing's Core values of that are akin to Alpine Downhill and Slalom Ski Racing- Fast, dangerous, exciting! This sport requires skill, stamina, nerve, raw power, maturity, and guts. Risking injury (or even death) is a reality- On the other hand, so is the need to win. Every racer balances these factors as he stands in the starting gate. Throw in physical skills, mental conditioning, and equipment, and you've got something worth watching and betting on - this is the drama of the racing game the spectators have been waiting to see; the SRA will see this goal through to it's reality.

The S.R.A. houses a dedicated staff of Professional riders and racers with a broad range of services and benefits acting as a liasion to aid and assist riders, racers, promoters and sponsors to work together and to provide simple, and realistic true-to-racer consulting on everything from race venues, course set ups, rules, timing, and overall competition logistics, always with the racer's and spectator's interest in mind.
